It is no surprise that interest as well as investment in the region has been going from strength to strength. Indeed between 2012 and 2019, private fundraising in the Baltics has grown from approximately EUR 40m to over EUR 300m.

And we at the EIF have been part of this story. In 2012 we launched our Baltic Innovation Fund together with our three local partners, Kredex, Invega and Altum. BIF is tailored to act at a pan-Baltic level to harness the power of cross-border investment.

Now in its second edition, BIF is collectively mobilising at least € 1 billion of resources for SMEs in the Baltics.

These resources combine both public money as well as a healthy dose of private investment, which is the litmus test of any financial ecosystem.
