Despite the negative effects of the pandemic, we saw a number of promising new initiatives take shape during 2020.
We have broadened our horizons.
We have looked to the sky with our InnovFin Space pilot programme: dedicated to support the innovation and growth of European SMEs operating in both upstream and downstream space technologies.
We have also looked to our oceans with our BlueInvest and Portugal Blue initiatives: conceived to help ensure a strong but sustainable maritime economy, vital for the transformation to a carbon-neutral world by 2050.
We saw our new AI/Blockchain initiative take off across Europe, onboarding tech equity funds in Austria, Finland, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The development of such technology is vital for Europe’s digital future and competitiveness.
With our ESCALAR programme, we have also moved to address a market gap and underserved segment by designing instruments that provide scale-up financing so that ambitious European businesses find the backing they need when the time comes to grow.
