CONTRIBUTING TO THE EIB GROUP’S CLIMATE BANK ROADMAP
ALIGNING OUR ACTIVITIES WITH THE THE PARIS AGREEMENT OBJECTIVES
Since 2021 all EIF's new activities are Paris-aligned.
What does that mean in practical terms?
CONTRIBUTING TO THE EIB GROUP’S CLIMATE BANK ROADMAP
RESTRICTED AND EXCLUDED SECTORS
The EIB Group Paris Alignment framework was put in place within the Climate Bank Roadmap (CBR), restricting certain financing activities in sectors such as fossil-fuel based energy production, coal mining, oil and natural gas exploration, production, refining, transportation, distribution and storage, as well as energy-intensive and high CO2 emitting sectors and transport vehicles.
COUNTERPARTIES DISCLOSURES
We also adopted the PATH framework, whereby we request all significant counterparties to disclose in line with the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations. This allows the EIF to situate the investment within the context of counterparties’ wider corporate activities and their impact on the environment providing for a more holistic approach to our operations.
